Pelvic ultrasound scanning in asymptomatic adult-type granulosa cell tumor: A case report and review

Background: Ovarian cancer is common amongst women worldwide. In Indonesia, it the fourth most female with a 5-year survival rate of 45%, but can reach up to 92% if treated early. Granulosa cell tumors (GCT) arise from sex-cord and are considered malignant. This study presents rare case asymptomatic adult-type granulosa tumor in an elderly lady diagnosed during routine pelvic ultrasound scanning. Case Illustration: A 65-year-old lady, P2A0, was referred due left ovarian mass three years before admission. adnexal palpated no sign internal genital adhesion. Transvaginal showed atrophy uterus thin endometrial layer. One solid cystic part found on papillary projection low resistance index. Histopathological examination revealed adult type-granulosa classical Call-Exner body grooved nuclei (coffee bean nuclei). Diagnosis GCT made by histological findings. Discussion: Histologically, cells subtype appear round, pale, scant cytoplasm, classic coffee bodies. contrast, juvenile has eosinophilic and/or vacuolated cytoplasm macrofollicular or patterns, composed immature frequent mitoses. bodies not commonly found.
